Arts and Crafts
Residency

RESIDENCIES

This residency offers an educational and in-depth journey into Visual Artist of the 20th Century.     It is a 10 week series of hands on activities that incorporate insight into the history and groundbreaking styles of 20th century modernist masters i.e., Van Gogh, Romare Bearden, Andy Warhol.  This sequence of drawing/painting workshops will provide ways to form instructional methods for drawing and painting lessons that are easy to understand and will allow each participant to create original works of art.  Participants will leave each session with an improved sense of their own painting abilities as well as new strategies for integrating painting and art history into their own works or curriculum.

ASSEMBLY

ASSEMBLY

Utilizing aspects of traditional African mask ceremonies, Jembe hand drumming, storytelling and song, we blend together traditional forms of cultural elements in an informative demonstration of history that can be used in class room discussion, as supplemental curriculum material, or serve as a forum for exploration.  Our workshop and performance will rouse student’s energies, maintain their interest and present them with an illuminating perspective on African/African American culture.
